Digital knit, mixed yarn, wood frame
The framed textiles explore the duality of the words ‘manmade’ and ‘natural’, by portraying imagery of naturelike scenery that becomes untrue by digital patterns or eerie colors.
The shine and combination of the yarn sometimes makes the stitches dance while you move around the artwork, making the image glitch in the corner of the eye.
The question of the exhibition revolves around the evolution of the digital world, that is happening faster than we can comprehend. But also the evolution of humans and what we create for ourselves.
If nature made man. And man made technology. Does that make technology natural? Are all three, nature, technology and man, not just a bigger whole, built of smaller components. Cells and codes.
These works are built out of stitches. Programmed and knitted digitally by a human.
